With several decades of experience, this client is skilled in delivering highways, bridge and public realm schemes. Their growing focus on public realm projects has led them to collaborate extensively with several Local Authorities, managing numerous improvement initiatives across different boroughs.

The role

The Buyer will play an integral role in ensuring that the company meets budgetary requirements and operates profitably by monitoring the company spending, quality of purchases, and if spends are competitively priced.

You will be required to:

  • Liaise with key company employees to determine their material and equipment needs

  • Pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times

  • Research and identify potential new suppliers

  • Investigate new products and services to meet company’s goals

  • Assess and monitor total costs to the company

  • Answer and record phone and email enquiries as necessary

  • Arrange meeting with suppliers to negotiate and compare prices for materials including negotiating term deals, frameworks and rebates where relevant

  • Analyse pricing, specifications and best value for materials and plant

  • Create and update price lists and comparisons to gain best value for the company

  • Manage all plant for all current sites: hiring/off hiring

  • Create and regularly update the supply chain data base

About you

As a confident Buyer, you will seek desirable terms for contracts, analyse and quickly choose suppliers, manage costs, and choose quality merchandise.

Ideally, you should hit most of the points below:

  • Practical and theoretical experience of full procurement lifecycle.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to enable successful negotiations with suppliers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Precise judgment and strong decision-making skills.

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.

  • Nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices for the company
