The role of a Setting Out Engineer is to ensure that the elements of the project are positioned correctly on the site according to the design plans and specifications. This involves marking out reference points, levels, and surveying the site to guide the construction process accurately.
The ideal candidate will:
Conducting surveys to gather data about the site, including topography, existing structures, and relevant measurements.
Translate design plans and specifications into physical markers on the construction site. This involves setting out reference points, boundaries, and dimensions.
Ensure that the levels of the construction elements align with the design specifications. This involves using instruments like levels and theodolites.
Verify the construction work meets the required standards and tolerances. This includes checking dimensions, alignments, and other critical parameters.
Along with your ability to manage and assist in the implementation of this project, the setting out engineer will take a hands on approach.

A relevant degree in Engineering, Construction management or relevant.
Previous experience working in a Setting Out Engineer role or similar.
Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate design intent and address any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the construction phase.
Strong attention to detail that ensures that measurements are accurate, alignments are correct, and construction elements meet design specifications.
Ability to perform regular checks and inspections to verify that the construction work adheres to project specifications and quality standards.
